15th August 2015

Cardiff Pride

Thank you for booking to attend Pride Cymru with The Scout Association, on Saturday 15th August. We have over 20 people booked to attend with us for our first apprence in Pride Cymru. All the information you’re need for the day is below, and don’t forget to get people talking about the event using #scoutpride.

Just a couple of weeks to go! We will be meeting at Starbuckes Coffee, 125/139 Queen Street between 9.30 and 10.00 for the parade briefing. This is at the bottom of Queen Street by the Capital Centre. We will then make our way down to Churchill Way for the start of the parade.

Please remember you will be representing Scouting to the public, so put our Values into action, and help us show that Scouting is fun and welcoming. Pride Cymru do not permit alcohol in the parade, and please refrain from smoking. We will have young people attending with us, so as at any other Scout event, please follow the Yellow Card

Here's some further info...

Who can I contact?

The best way to contact us before the event is emailing Michael Preston (Manager@flagscouts.org.uk)If you have any problems on the day, you can contact Mike on 07921 550558.

What should I wear or bring?

Ideally a purple iScout t-shirt (if you have one) and, if you’d like to, your necker (or a rainbow necker if you have one). If you don’t have a t-shirt, we would recommend wearing something I.Scout branded, and a necker, or just a casual t-shirt. Please note we do request you don’t come in uniform.

Remember to travel light. If you're is staying over in Cardiff on the Saturday evening, we’d recommend dropping off any luggage at wherever you’re staying before the pride briefing.

At this stage we don’t know what the weather forecast will be so please remember to check ahead of the event. Remember we'll be standing/walking outside for at least a couple of hours, so you might want to put some suncream on before you leave, and carry a bottle of water. Please be prepared for sunshine and showers, and dress accordingly.

Please bare in mind there will be no refreshment or toilet facilities before or during the parade.

What can I do after the parade?

We should arrive at the end of the parade between 12.30pm and 1.00pm, in Coopers Field. This is where our official presence at the event will end, but remember, if you're wearing iScout, you will still be seen as reflecting Scouting. For info about what Brighton Pride have to offer after the parade, see http://www.brighton-pride.org

Emergency Contacts

On the day we will be asking you to provide emergency contact details, however ahead of the event, please let Mike know if you have any disabilities or health concerns we should be aware of.

Finally, please help us spread the word on social media, by downloading the Twibbon and using #scoutpride
