Scout Pride
Supporting Pride
For the last four years The Scout Association supported by FLAGS Scout Active Support Unit has attended London Pride. This has enabled us to highlight and promote Scouting's commitment to equality and building a more inclusive society. In addition to this attending Pride has been a great opportunity to recruit more adults to some of our struggling groups in London.
The Purpose of attending Pride
promote Scouting in the local community and nationally
recruit new adults and young people into Scouting
spread the word that Scouting is open to all
support Vision 2018, and demonstrate that we represent the communities we work in
What do we do at Pride?
There are many activities that we can do at the Pride events, this could be from taking part in the Pride Parade, to running a Scouting Stall with flyers and other information, and running a Scouting related activity for the public.
We have developed 'Pride in a Box' this has all the required resources to help you deliver the 'Scout Pride' message. This includes t-shirts, stickers, postcards and YES!!!! some freebies.
Here are some ideas of how you can make your 'Scout Pride' a great event:
members breakfast (most important meal of the day)
run an activity
share your skills with the Community
take part in the Parade
recruit new adults and young people
offer activities and taster sessions to the Community
