Brighton Pride

Thank you for booking to attend Brighton Pride with The Scout Association, on Saturday 1st August. We have over 20 people booked to attend with us for our first apprence in Brighton Pride. All the information you’re need for the day is below, and don’t forget to get people talking about the event using #scoutpride.
Just one week to go! We will be meeting at Café Nero, 89a Church Road, Hove (BN3 2BA) between 9.00 and 9.30 for the parade briefing. This is on the junction of Church Road and Grand Ave. We will then make our way down to Hove Lawns for the gathering of the parade.
Please remember you will be representing Scouting to the public, so put our Values into action, and help us show that Scouting is fun and welcoming. Brighton Pride do not permit alcohol in the parade, and please refrain from smoking. We will have young people attending with us, so as at any other Scout event, please follow the Yellow Card
Why We’re Attending …
There are three main reasons which we are attending Brighton Pride, please bare these in mind whilst your taking part in the event.
- Supporting the LGBT community in Brighton
- Showing that Scouting is inclusive and welcoming of people
- Recruit new adults and young people into Scouting.

What should I wear or bring?
Your purple iScout t-shirt and, if you’d like to, your necker (or a rainbow necker if you have one). If you have booked to attend the event through David Floud, then we'll have yours waiting for you at the registration desk.
Remember to travel light. If you're is staying over in Brighton on the Saturday evening, we’d recommend dropping off any luggage at wherever you’re staying before the pride briefing.
The weather forecast is looking promising. Remember we'll be standing/walking outside for at least a couple of hours, so you might want to put some suncream on before you leave, and carry a bottle of water. Please be prepared for sunshine and showers, and dress accordingly.
Please bare in mind there will be no refreshment or toilet facilities before or during the parade.
What can I do after the parade?
We should arrive at the end of the parade between 12.30pm and 1.45pm, in Preston Park. This is where our official presence at the event will end, but remember, if you're wearing iScout, you will still be seen as reflecting Scouting.
